Khione - 2012 ecoFAB Trash Couture

I made four dresses for that event, the competition was fierce and the creations were stunning. This is the first of my four dresses, "Khione" which brings me to my new line of hand made, unique wedding dresses. We spend a fortune on our wedding dress which we will wear only once in our lifetime, we save it for our daughters for them to wear on their wedding day and innevitably they hate our dress, unless.... this dress becomes a piece of art after you have worn and for ever preserve this memory.

Khione is a three piece creation, the backless top is made of paper pulp, it ties in the back with one strand of Organza ribbon that loops on each side around a coiled paper button. the ends of the organza ribbon are topped with like coiled white paper buttons.

the skirt is made with large strips of white paper, smaller strips of white gift tissue paper glued on a strand of ribbon to reinforce it and some tracing paper. Every petal has hand cut flowers glued randomely, and the waist band is made of a thousand hand cut like flowers glued in tight random sequence and topped by a white hand coiled recycled paper belt all with random sequins and rhinestones.

the head piece is made from repurposed veil (used to be my daughter's bed canopy), one hand coiled white small hat, surrounded by white paper flowers glued together to make the border and the veil has white hand cut flowers randomely glued to it.

Khione was complicated to assemble, the first attempt was a disaster and I had to scrap it and start from scrap. I am glad I had to do this for it forced me to rethink my design and the result is stunning. she is beautiful and obviously functional as you can see the model wore it with ease and fluidity and it is amazingly sturdy. This event has been so exciting that my group of friends and I will be returning every year and try, best we can to outdo ourselves. Follow us on www.ecofabtrashcouture.com to see when are the next shows.

I welcome commission work, if you like this design or if you want a different look, let me know, I'll make one just for you! All I need is 6 weeks time to make it.
