“Phaedra” is my collaboration with Marynel Watters in an all recycled white plastic dress made with; white plastic target bags, a recycled wedding garment bag, some recycled plastic loofa balls and old jewelry.

Marynel and I designed this dress intended for a wedding boutique, the idea was to make it completely out of white recycled plastic to withstand weather conditions and the boutique gave us a used and headed to the trash wedding garment bag. The white plastic bags were cut into strips and removed of all colorful print and tied together. The body of the dress is made with the to which we sewed the unravelled loofa balls. I had two used ones and because they weren’t enough I had to go buy some more. Lucky for me I found a bin of loofas at the goodwill. Though they aren’t used they were recycled into this dress. Marynel had a bunch of second hand brooches and I have a ton of broken jewelry I save for moments like these. This piece took us the better part of four months to put together with countless hours of cutting, knotting, ironing plastic strips to make the train and scaloppe the edges
