Tribal Mind - Acrylic mix media

TRIBAL MIND - Mix media Oil paint with recycled paper coils on panel. This is entirely a repurposed or recycled piece too. The wood board is a remnant from a display table I made for when I go to art shows. The frame is from scraps of wood I pillage from a friend's scrap collection and once I put this together I painted the wood with primer paint then a thick layer of mud to texturize it and then began painting. I used oil paints on this one, experimenting at my friend Chris McIntosh’s studio and using his stash of paints. I was on a kick of using my signature coils on my paintings and this one was my first large piece.
I don’t think I have to explain where “Tribal Minds” came from for this painting; it looks primitive and cavernous, reminiscing of the cave paintings.

This lovely piece is showing at the Ballantine Village NewCamp Pop Up Art Gallery in Charlotte
