Bloomin - Recycled Magazine Paper Coil assemblage sculpture

0.00

Bloomin measures 9.5” tall, x 16.5” in circumference.

The shape of my vessels/sculptures pretty much form themselves, though the base is usually the same, a large circle or flat surface which pretty much dictates the basic flow it will take, once I get to the third row of coils the sculpture starts taking its own curves and direction. Bloomin, is different than the others for it is made entirely of quills, not coils. The difference between the two is a quill is an open spiral, not a solid “coin”. Though the sculpture itself is solid and sturdy, most of the quills are soft and pliable, which gives Bloomin life. Bright and light looking she looks like a blooming flower and her base is equally as impressive for it is made with coils and resin. I worked a solid 102 hours on this sculpture, working approximately 5 hours per day for four weeks but she is worth it.
