At The Ball - Acrylic Mix Media

AT THE BALL - Acrylic Mix Media, is an entirely recycled painting from the canvas which I built from scrap wood my friend keeps in his fully functional and finished basement, (which is a rarety and luxury in Mooresville). I go and pillage his wood scrap pile for my frames. I use his chop saw and my own nail gun for my frames :) Something borrowed something old.... I keep a trunk of scrap fabrics there too, just for these occasions. This piece of fabric happened to be an old table cloth. I painted a layer of acrylic white. I then spread a layer of mud to give it texture and when it was all dry I gave it a nice thick layer of acrylic flat paint and started on my painting. The whole process takes quite a while, but most of all it's the inspiration that comes and goes... And you better be ready when it comes...

I wanted to pair up my dresses with my art to give me reason to why I spend so much time creating these beautiful pieces that are not really functional, AT THE BALL was made to show alongside ANGELIQUE my recycled paper dress.
